Last Week in the US, 2007

I had the good fortune to stay with my friends Warren White and Mary Sicora for nearly a week after Anamosa. Warren and Mary live in an earth sheltered home they built themselves, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Croix_Falls,_Wisconsin. Here is a photo of a statue in their heavily forested property. I spent my days entering notes and quotes in my pocket PC, and updating my blog on their computer. Mary, their daughter Carly, and I attended a fundraiser for the Leap Foundation http://www.leap-foundation.org/ The founder was there, and we saw the most amazing videos of their work with children, repairing cleft palates and other facial deformities. I bought a surgery for $250. A very worthwhile investment!! Then it was time to head for New Zealand.
